Air Ghana Briefs Transport Minister on Plans to Expand Cargo Operations

Air Ghana has outlined major plans to expand its cargo operations and strengthen Ghana’s position as a regional aviation hub during a meeting with the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe.

The delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer Mr Karim Traboulsi, briefed the Minister on strategies to boost cargo connectivity within Ghana and across the West African sub-region.

A key highlight of the briefing was the acquisition of a dedicated Boeing 737-400 freighter.

The aircraft is expected to improve turnaround times, ease logistics bottlenecks, and support more efficient movement of goods.

Welcoming the initiative, Mr Nikpe emphasised that a strong and reliable air cargo system is essential for trade, job creation, and economic growth.

He reaffirmed the Government’s support for private sector investments that enhance logistics capacity and strengthen Ghana’s competitiveness within the region.

The Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to upgrade aviation infrastructure, including improvements being undertaken by the Ghana Airports Company Limited and the construction of a new concourse linking Terminals 2 and 3 at Kotoka International Airport.

“These projects are designed to expand capacity and improve service delivery for both passengers and cargo operators,” he said.

Mr Nikpe assured the Air Ghana delegation of the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the airline and other stakeholders to address operational constraints and create an enabling environment for growth.

Air Ghana is a private cargo and logistics airline operating in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
