Aggrieved Suame-Magazine Artisans Chase Their MP Away; Pelt Him With Sachet Water
Handful artisans at the Suame Magazine in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region today, Monday, July 18, 2022, hooted and pelted their Member of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu with sachets of water for allegedly denying them development.
The MP who couples as the Majority Leader in Parliament had gone to inspect the neglected Suame highway which the artisans having spotted him chased him hooting and pelting him with sachet water. According to them, a colleague has lost his life due to the dilapidated nature of the road.
The contractor has returned to the road to continue with the project as it was promised by the MCE, which the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs had gone to inspect today. The angry artisans upon hearing of the arrival of the MP thronged the highway and started hooting, pelting him with sachets of water, and subsequently chased him away.
The Suame legislator who was accompanied by the Municipality Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, and some party members had to run and seek protection on top of a storey building at Suame Tarkwa Maakro. Police have been deployed to the scene down to calm.
It’s worth noting that the aggrieved artisans and residents embarked on a demonstration and announced they’re coming back on Monday if they do not see any positive results on the grounds.
The MCE said the MP and his entourage were speaking with a section of the people when some others unknowingly came to attack the MP, MCE, and their escorts.
