Afari Military Hospital Construction Resumption in Limbo- Amoakohene Indicates

The fate of the stalled Afari Military Hospital is in limbo with no clear plan from the government to tackle it any time soon.

The facility remains one of the two health facilities which will ease the burden and congestion at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) once completed.

Updating traditional authorities in Kumasi about the state of the facility and other ongoing health facilities, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, said the project had stalled due to procurement processes and could only resume after all paperwork is in place.

He admitted that the resumption of work at the Afari hospital is uncertain.

According to him, it can progress only when paperwork is completed in time for the mid-year budget.

Meanwhile, the Minister assured Nananom of the government’s commitment to health in the Ashanti Region, noting that work on Sewua, Trede, Oforikrom, and KNUST hospitals is actively in progress.

The Minister appeared before Nananom on June 11, 2026, at the invitation of Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene, who is currently in charge of Kumasi in the absence of the Asantehene.
