Accra-Kumasi Highway Opened After Fatal Accident

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) at Kibi has opened the Accra-Kumasi Highway known as N6 after a fatal accident reportedly claimed two lives at Akim Aboabo.

The Ghana Police Service posted on its Facebook page, “Reference the fatal Accident at Akim Aboabo between Akim Asafo and Nsutam on the Accra-Kumasi Highway (N6), involving a Nissan Pickup and a Loaded Daf Articulated truck, leading to a complete closure of the road; the N6, at Akim Abaobo has been opened by the Kibi MTTD team for all approaching motorists.”

Reports say the two vehicles collided head-on.

Following the accident, the Kibi Mttd Accident Prevention Squad (APS), Emergency crews, including Ghana National Fire Service Extrication Team, National Ambulance Service EMTs, and Road Safety Management Service Limited were deployed to the scene.

Motorists from Suhum diverted through Kibi, at Apedwa Junction, while motorists proceeding from Nsutam diverted through Kibi, at Kibi Junction

“Meanwhile all drivers should at all times adhere to Rules of the Road, particularly, always driving on the right, avoid overtaking in curves, on crests, and when vehicles are approaching from the opposite direction to avoid head-on collisions on our Highways”, the police statement said.
