Marriage Is Not A Do Or Die Affair; Empress Gifty Advises Victims Of Domestic Violence
Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty, has admonished persons in abusive relationships to flee for their lives as “marriage is not a do or die affair”.
This was contained in a Facebook post in which she remembered the late Nigerian gospel musician Osinachi Nwachukwu who allegedly died of domestic violence last year.
“Today marked one year since she died. One year already. And nobody is talking about her anymore., Gone and soon forgotten,” she said.
She encouraged others to use her story as a lesson to forestall such tragic ends.
“DO NOT ALLOW ANY MOG or Alfa use the Bible or Quran to keep you in an abusive relationship. Think about your children and their future.”
The advice, she said, is not meant to encourage divorce among couples.
“We are not advocating divorce but get the necessary help as soon as possible including running away for your life.”
She concluded, “Noko wisdom” to wit, “some wisdom”.
On April 8, 2022, Osinachi Nwachukwu, 44, died at a hospital in Abuja in Nigeria. Her husband told the world she died of undisclosed illness, however, it was later revealed the death was due to physical abuse.
It was reported that the man, Peter Nwachukwu, had been subjecting her to domestic violence.
Peter was arrested, charged and is still standing trial.
