BoG Blacklists 20 Unlicensed Loan Apps Over Data Privacy, Regulatory Breaches

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has named 20 mobile loan applications operating in the country without a licence or authorisation, warning the public to desist from engaging with them.

The Central Bank said the move is part of continued steps to sanitise the digital credit space and protect the public from entities providing digital credit services in contravention of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana (September 2025).

The caution follows its earlier Notice on Unlicensed Digital Credit Service Providers (DCSPs).

The affected loan apps are Agile Loan, AmanaPay, CashWay, Foutou Credit, HastyCredit, InsCash, KudiNow, LendAura, Lever Credit, LoanGlide, NovaCedi, Palm Loan, PocketLoan, Rite Credit, SikaCare, SikaNow, Susu Loan, Taploan Up, Temivo Cedi and Zatuloan.

According to the Bank, the operations of these entities constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection and established regulatory standards.

The Bank of Ghana said it will continue to collaborate with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate and take appropriate enforcement action against such entities in order to safeguard consumers and uphold the integrity, safety and stability of the financial sector.

It therefore advised the general public not to engage with unlicensed loan providers, while cautioning Banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions and Payment Service Providers against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed loan providers.
