One Hundred Students Begin AI And Robotics Bootcamp

One hundred students from 19 basic schools have begun a five-day AI and Robotics Summer Bootcamp aimed at providing practical exposure to emerging technologies.

The Bootcamp, which opened in Accra, is focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, coding and other emerging technologies.

The students have been grouped by age and grade levels to ensure age-appropriate learning.

Learners aged 6–8 are in the Foundation cohort (Grades 1–3), 9–11 in the Junior cohort (Grades 4–6), 12–14 in the Intermediate cohort (Grades 7–9), and 15–18 in the Senior cohort (Grades 10–12).

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, in a statement delivered on his behalf by the Director for Innovations, said the grouping allows training to be tailored from visual and block-based tasks for younger learners to independent design, programming and advanced problem-solving for older students.

He said the Bootcamp is being delivered through hands-on learning, with students encouraged through guided activities, experimentation and project work to apply their knowledge to real-life challenges.

Mr George said government remains committed to equipping young Ghanaians with relevant skills for an increasingly technology-driven economy, noting that the rapid advancement of AI, robotics and automation is reshaping work and business.

According to him, the initiative complements the government’s digital skills agenda and contributes to Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

He urged participants to approach the programme with curiosity and discipline and to view mistakes as learning opportunities.

He also appealed to parents, teachers, facilitators and partners to sustain support beyond the Bootcamp to help transform the skills acquired into meaningful opportunities for Ghana and the continent.
