Education Ministry to Review Concerns Over 2026 Provisional BECE Results

The Ministry of Education has assured the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) that concerns raised over the provisional 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results will be treated with fairness and transparency.

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Apaak, gave the assurance after receiving a petition from GNAPS calling for an audit and review of the results.

According to GNAPS, the petition highlights alleged grading inconsistencies, low pass rates among private school candidates, and cases in which some students reportedly received grades in subjects they did not register to write.

Upon receiving the petition, Dr Apaak said the Ministry would give due attention to the concerns and would not prejudge any of the issues raised. He noted that the petition would be forwarded to the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, for the necessary action.

The Deputy Minister underscored the government’s recognition of the important role private schools play in Ghana’s education system. He said every Ghanaian child deserves fairness and equity in assessment, regardless of whether they attend a public or private school.
