2023 BECE Starts On August 7

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced candidates will begin the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on August 7.

Registration for prospective candidates will begin in the last week of March after briefing sessions for stakeholders involved in the registration, according to WAEC.

In a press statement, the Council said the exam will spring from August 7 to 11 this year.

“The Council will hold briefing sessions for all stakeholders who will be involved in the registration of candidates from Tuesday, 21st to Friday, 24th March 2023. The registration portal for the registration of eligible candidates will be open from Monday, 27th March to Friday, 28th April 2023.”

In the course of the registration, the Council warned, candidates must ensure accurate bio-data and relevant information.

School authorities have also been urged to ensure that they register candidates for the correct Ghanaian Language and Basic Design Technology options.

It further noted that access arrangements will be made for candidates with special educational needs at a request.

Candidates will sit the 2023 BECE for School and Private Candidates from Monday, August 7 to 11.

The Council says it has revised its rules on irregularities and affect the destruction of Exhibits; Posting Live Questions on the Internet; Refusal to grant timely access to the school premises; and Misconduct of examination officials.
