Bawku: Ghana Army Conducts Cordon-and-Search Operation

The Ghana Army has conducted a cordon-and-search operation in the Bawku General Area as part of Exercise Storm Shield 2026.
Officials said the operation on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, was aimed at reinforcing the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Bawku.
It targeted the neutralisation of threats, retrieval of contraband, and the apprehension of suspects in the area.
Speaking after the exercise, the Command Operations Officer at Headquarters Northern Command, Colonel John Yaw Kwarteng, expressed appreciation to the community for its cooperation during the operation.
He appealed to residents to volunteer credible information to the Military and other security services about potential troublemakers.
Colonel Kwarteng assured the public that the Military would continue to sustain such operations to safeguard lives and property in the area.
Some suspects and items recovered during the operation were later handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.
