Roads Blocked Today

The police have announced the closure of some roads in the capital and the Central following the visit of United States vice President Kamala Harris to Ghana.

  

The closure of roads began on Sunday, March 26 and is scheduled to end Wednesday, March 29.

 

Vice President Harris arrived on Sunday with the aim of building on the recent U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit that President Biden hosted in Washington in December 2022.

 

In addition to the roadblocks, there will be police officers stationed at vantage points along the earmarked roads.

 

Today, March 27, the Police Service said traffic flow from National Theatre through to the AU roundabout to the Jubilee House and then to the Emmanuel Eye Clinic at Shiashie from 9 am to 9 pm will witness intermittent roadblocks.

 

“There will also be intermittent roadblocks from the Ako Adjei Interchange through to the Labone Secondary School area and along the John Evans Atta Mills High Street and onto the Bokom Boxing Arena Street.”

 

Tuesday

From the National Threatre to the Ministries Traffic Intersection, through to the Castle Traffic Light at the Black Star Square will be affected from 9 am to 12 pm, according to the police.

 

Between midday and 6 pm, it said the roadblocks will affect traffic from the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium through to the Bakano Road, Aminstimadzi road to Omanhene’s Palace, Beach Road and then to the Cape Coast Castle.

 

Wednesday

On the last day of her visit, the police said intermittent roadblocks will be mounted from the National Theatre through to the Jubilee House, along the Liberation and then to Pawpaw Street at East Legon from 8 am to 5 pm.

 

Motorists have therefore been implored to cooperate with the police and use the temporary road diversions instituted.
