W/R: Police Foil Robbery, Nab Two

Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the police in a foiled robbery incident near Asankraguah in the Western Region.
A statement by the police said 28-year-old Mohammed Abdul-Salam and 42-year-old Karim Yakubu lay in ambush in a bush along a section of the road, waiting for a potential victim to pass by.
However, they were spotted by police officers from the Western Central Regional Police Command patrolling the stretch.
“Upon noticing a police patrol team, they attempted to flee the scene prompting a swift pursuit by the police officers.”
In an attempt to evade arrest, they fled to a mining site and they jumped into a muddy pit.
“The Police officers managed to rescue them from the pit and successfully arrested them,” a part of the statement noted.
The police retrieved one shotgun, three AAA cartridges and one Nokia keypad mobile phone from them after a search.
They are currently in police custody assisting investigations.
