Taxes, Other Charges Will Cause Tariffs To Rise Beyond The 27.I5% – ECG
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released a statement reminding customers and the public about the recent increment which will not be in effect based on the Public Utility Regulatory Commission’s 27.15% but should expect more than that due to other expenses.
Speaking on Opemsuo Radio with the Nkwantananso show host, the Ashanti Regional ECG’s Public Relation Officer, Mr. Sampson Boateng stated that the volume of taxes and other charges have contributed to the rise of the tariff charges beyond the 27.15% which customers must notice and bear with.
According to him, the 27.15% comprises the energy charges adjustment made by PURC. However, all the other expenses lie in the bosom of ECG to add the rest of the cost to the tariff.
He added that the 27.15% is an average adjustment that would not reflect equal but will differ based on how individuals use their electricity.
