UHS Of UG Alerts Students And Staff Of Measles, Rubella Outbreak In Ghana

The University of Ghana Health Services has alerted students and staff of the institution about the outbreak of measles and Rubella across the country.

According to the institution, two cases of each of the diseases have been confirmed in the Greater Accra Region, the capital of Ghana.

The symptoms of measles include dry cough, running nose, sore throat, inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis), Kopliks’ spots, skin and rashes.

Rubella on the other hand comes with sore throat, fever, headache, conjunctivitis, swollen lymph in the neck and cough.

UHS has therefore directed both staff and students to refer any symptom to the Hospital for appropriate treatment.

“The University Services (UHS), is therefore bringing this information to the attention of the University community so that students and staff will be on the lookout for possible cases and refer immediately to the Hospital for appropriate care and management”, a statement from the University of Ghana UHS said.

Rubella and Measles are both viral diseases.
