Ghana Mourns: Fund For Helicopter Crash Victims’ Kids Will Cover Education, Shelter, Others- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Children’s Support Fund, launched in support of the children of the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash, will cover necessities.
According to him, it will cover their education from primary through to university or technical training.
The Funds also cover healthcare, including medical insurance, specialised care where required, and welfare support, clothing, shelter, and special living expenses.
Speaking at the burial service of six of the eight victims, HE Mahama said, “The government will make an immediate seed contribution to this Fund.”
Additionally, he said his office will ensure that the Children’s Support Fund is sustained for the long term, with annual public reporting on how it has been used.
President Mahama has also committed to operationalising and publishing a detailed framework of the Fund within the next 30 days.
Meanwhile, he announced that Stanbic Bank had opened an account with an initial contribution of GHC500,000.

Crash
A GAF helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
It also claimed the lives of Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
