Our Govt Didn’t Listen Enough- Napo Reflects

After months in opposition and on reflection, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as Napo, has conceded that his erstwhile government displeased and broke the trust of Ghanaians.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo government didn’t listen enough and over-assumed.
This, he recognises, resulted in their massive defeat in the 2024 General elections.
“One thing I’ve come to a conclusion in the last ten months is that there was a broken trust of citizens in government. The trust that was broken hurt so much that we saw the results,” he said in an interview.
“We didn’t listen enough, we assumed a lot of things we shouldn’t have assumed…{and} people’s lifetime creation wiped out,” he outlined.
The 2024 Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic (NPP) also cited challenges that confronted the then government, including the ‘worst’ economic climate, medically and economically.
He observes that the global turbulence led to the voting out of all democratic governments around the world.
