I’ve Declared My Assets- Deputy Defence Minister

The Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, says he has been wrongly included in the list of persons who have failed to declare their assets as directed by President John Dramani Mahama.
In a Facebook post directed at the Fourth Estate which made a publication on appointees who have failed to declare their assets by March 31, he demanded a retraction.
According to him, he filed his assets declaration with the Auditor General on March 28, 2025, at 4 pm.
“I have the official receipt to that effect.”
According to him, the publication has affected his reputation.
“Your false publication has lowered my image in the minds of right-thinking persons. You should know what to do within 24hours! Failure, I would seek legal advice.”
The New organization has since removed his name as well as Dr Adam Bonaa, the Executive Secretary of the Small Arms and Light Weapons Commission from the list.
While declaring his assets on February 18, President Mahama said he had directed all appointees to comply with the provisions of Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution by March 31, 2025.
“I have also taken this step to send an unequivocal signal to all public office holders, particularly those I have appointed, that I regard the declaration of assets with utmost seriousness and expect full compliance from them,” he stated.
However, the Fourth Estate reports that over 50 appointees had defied this order. This includes eight presidential staffers and 39 Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
