Date For Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ State Funeral Announced

The government has announced the agreed date for a state funeral for former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
It will be held at the Independence Square in Accra on November 28, 2025, a statement by Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said.
“The state funeral is in recognition of Mrs Rawlings’ Invaluable contributions to the advancement of the rights of women and children in Ghana, and national development.”
She passed away on October 23, 2025.
Plans for a state funeral for the former First Lady were announced by President John Dramani Mahama when he paid a commiseration visit to the bereaved family on October 28, 2025.
“We’re waiting for the family to meet and tell us what their desires are. But I just want to announce, as President, that we shall give her a state funeral. The family can do the traditional funeral after the state funeral,” President Mahama said.
Celebrating her achievements later in a Facebook post, Mahama recalled her impact on the masses, particularly women and children as the founder and President of the 31st December Women’s Movement.
President Mahama said it was unsettling that she passed away just as plans were ongoing to mark the fifth anniversary of her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings’ passing.
