NPP to Launch Amended Constitution on December 3
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to launch its amended constitution next week.
The event will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, at the NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The party characterised it as a ‘historic’ event, saying it will mark a significant step in strengthening its internal governance, deepening party democracy, and positioning the NPP for a future of renewal, progress, and transformational leadership.
The event will be attended by former President Agyekum Kufour, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong and Minority leader Alexander Afenyo Markin.
It will also be attended by five presidential aspirants of the party, namely Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
The National Council of the party resolved to review the constitution after receiving a report of a Committee that investigated the motivation behind the party’s unprecedented defeat in the 2024 General elections.
A statement issued by the party on April 17, 2025, said the submission of the Review Report had invariably necessitated the need for the Party to amend some provisions of the Party Constitution.
This was to enable the party to embrace the proposed reforms contained in the Review Committee’s Report as part of the Party’s rebuilding efforts.
In furtherance of this, the party constituted a nine-member committee to work towards the amendment.
Critical areas of the review included Grassroots Empowerment, Structural Reorganisation, National Youth Wing, and Formalising Roles.
