U/WR: 10 Members of Suspected Armed Robbery and Abduction Gang Arrested

The police say ten members of a suspected armed robbery and abduction gang have been arrested in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

In a statement, the police said they were arrested by a joint military and police force on November 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm during an attack on road users around Kendeu.

“The attackers had also assaulted and robbed some market women who were travelling along the route.”

Among the items retrieved from the suspects were 5 locally manufactured guns, 25 AA live cartridges, 2 spent cartridges, 2 knives, and several spiritual talismans.

Some of the gang members, however, managed to escape.

The same gang is also reported to have earlier abducted two victims, identified as John Gaan and Dari Moses Dondomor, who, together with their possessions, are yet to be found.

The Police said efforts are underway to locate them.

Security measures
As part of measures to reinforce security, the police said integrated patrols are ongoing for deterrence and assurance in the area.

“Key leadership engagement with community leaders and other relevant stakeholders is also ongoing to support search efforts for the missing victims and de-escalate tensions.”

“The Command assures the public of its continued commitment to protect life and property and therefore encourages the public to remain cooperative and provide credible information to support ongoing investigations.”
