GoldBod Says US$8 billion Has Been Generated in Forex in 2025

According to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), a total of $8 billion has been generated in forex so far this year.

The amount, it said, was generated through the collaborative activities of the Board and the Precious Minerals Mining Company (PMMC).

It was generated from small-scale gold exports alone from January to October 15, 2025.

The amount represents 81,719.2289kg of gold.

Speaking at the Mining and Minerals Convention on September 9, 2025, the CEO of the Board, Sammy Gyamfi said gold exports in volume and value were at a record high this year.

According to him, the volume and value of small-scale gold exports from January to August 2025 have so far exceeded the total small-scale gold export outturn for the whole of 2024.

As against the 63 tonnes with a value of about $4.6 billion United States Dollars recorded last year, he said the country had recorded an export of 66.7 tonnes at a value of approximately $6 billion United States Dollars from January 2025 to August 2025.

Sammy attributed the development to aggressive reforms implemented in the gold sector.
