NHIA Temporarily Waives Waiting Period for New Enrollments and Renewals

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced a temporary waiver for newly enrolled members and those who have renewed their membership after over three months of expiry.
This waiver will be in place throughout November until the 14th of December 2025, as announced in a press statement on November 17, 2025.
This means that all eligible members who renew or enrol during the NHIS Active Month will enjoy immediate access to HIS services, without the usual waiting period.
“This special initiative forms part of the NHIS Active Month Campaign, aimed at making it easier for everyone to stay active on the Scheme and to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing healthcare.”
It therefore encouraged the public to take advantage and either visit any NHIS District Office, use the MyHIS App; or dial the HIS Mobile Renewal short code *929# to renew their membership and subscribe to the Auto-Renewal option for added convenience.
“We urge everyone, especially those whose membership has expired for more than three months, to renew promptly and continue enjoying the benefits of quality, affordable healthcare.”
