Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has clocked 104 years.
He marked the day at his residence at Fadama on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
Dressed in white, the visibly elated leader sat and received guests and well wishers.
Among his guests were President Akufo-Addo, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The President and his wife were both pictured with the Chief Imam.
Sharing some of the pictures on Facebook, the President posted, “On Sunday, 23rd April 2023, my beautiful Rebecca and I visited the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama, to wish him a happy 104th birthday. By every measure, it is a blessed and privileged club.”
Eulogising him, President Akufo-Addo said his guidance was “exemplary”.
He continued, “Our country may well be the envy of the rest of the world, when it comes to the question of religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence. His leadership and contribution to this state of affairs have been outstanding.”
Pictured with the vice President, the National Chief Imam appeared cutting a cake.
“I had the honour of visiting the National chief imam today on the occasion of his 104th birthday. May Allah continue to bless him with long life and good health,” Dr Mahamudu Bawumia posted on Facebook.
