Royalties Alone Would Have Left Me In Financial Struggles – Mc Abraham
Renowned gospel musician Mc Abraham has shared that relying solely on royalties would have put him in financial difficulty.
In an interview on Opemsuo Radio’s Oseikrom Kwanso with Mac De President, he explained that the annual royalties he receives are far from enough to support his family.
“My children are going to school—three are in the university and some in senior high school—and the royalties for the whole year might be GHC3,000, while I may have spent GHC100,000 on my children. So why would I consider royalties?”
“For a long time, God can testify that that’s not where I look. It is someone else’s business, and they are serious about it, but I’m not concerned about it.”
Mc Abraham added that his faith in God is what sustains him, not his earnings from music. Despite being a member of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), he has chosen not to focus on monetising his craft.
Looking ahead, the musician also revealed plans to launch a programme called Mc Abraham Sing Alike to mentor up-and-coming gospel musicians. Auditions are set for 15th September at the House of Jacob Chapel in Krofrom, Kumasi.
“It’s not just about sounding like me. We want to find talents who not only sing but also compose music with a deep understanding of the Bible.”
