President Akufo-Addo inaugurates Ghana’s third car factory.
The President of the Republic of Ghana will commission the third car manufacturing company tomorrow, 29th June, 2021.
The President is expected to commission Toyota Tsusho manufacturing company limited at Freezones enclave at Tema.
This is one of government’s initiatives to create more employment in the country and facilitate the growth of the country’s economy.
This is the third vehicle manufacturing company set up in Ghana after Volkswagon(VW) and Sinotruck.
VW was unveiled by the president on 3rd August, 2020.
“In August last year, VW signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the government of Ghana to begin the process of establishing an assembly plant in the country to serve the West African sub-regional market.
“Toyota Tsusho Corporation, on August 28, 2019, signed an MoU with the government of Ghana for the establishment of a Toyota and Suzuki assembly plant in Ghana on the day the company bought almost a five per cent stake in Suzuki”, Graphic Onlone reported.
In 2019, Parliament approved Automobile Bill to officially give a legal framework for the assembling of vehicles in the country according to Joy news.
