Otumfuo Foundation Provides Laptops to Students at Senchi M/A
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu Il Foundation has supplied laptop computers to pupils of Senchi Basic School in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti Region in line with their mission to improve ICT learning in rural communities.
This initiative is being implemented to help bridge the gap between urban and rural education in Ghana.
The ‘One-Student-One-Laptop’ initiative is under the Otumfuo-Agroecom Mobile Learning Project aimed at supporting rural schools with computers to enhance ICT learning.
Head of Stakeholder Relations for the Foundation, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Ababio, explained the importance of the project and pointed out that the Agroecom Learning Initiative has immensely contributed to the lives of many students who were not abreast with ICT or having any knowledge in ICT.
“Initially in the rural communities, students found it difficult to pass their ICT exams because they had no practical knowledge in ICT. Our ICT Initiative has helped many rural communities competing with those in the urban areas and also passing their final exams.”
The Sekyere East District Education Director, Mr. Williams Brako Agyapong thanked the Otumfuo Osei Tutu Il and the Foundation for their initiative and called for support to expand the ‘One-Student-One-Laptop Project in the district.
