A political science lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr. Isaac Brako has proffered some solution to the seemingly wranglings in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) following disqualification of some aspirants wanting to lead the party as 2020 parliamentary candidate for the upcoming general elections in their respective areas.
“As a matter of urgency, the party should engage supporters of the aggrieved aspirants because they are the people fomenting the whole problem for the party”, he suggested on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show hosted by George Opoku Mensah Agudey.
Dr. Isaac Brako’s view comes at the time , some youth of the party are discontent with the decision by the NPP’ National Executive Committee (NEC) to disqualify some aspirants seeking to contest some incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs).
Footages widely shared on social media platforms showed some aggrieved NPP supporters slaughtering a ram while others poured liquors in Rivers as they invoked curses on top NPP executives
At Saboba in the Northern Region, the youth of the party vandalized the constituency party office following the disqualification of one, Emmanuel Kotin, a security analyst, from contesting the Saboba NPP parliamentary primaries schedule for June 20
“The youth are doing all these things because of what they are getting from the people they support. …Let there be calm and the leadership of NPP should talk to the aggrieved youth”, Dr. Isaac Brako stated.
