NPP Chieftain Owusu-Adjapong Passes On
Ghana has lost yet one of its illustrious sons, as news reaching our desk indicates that former Majority Leader and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Felix Owusu-Adjapong, has passed away.
The passing away of this statesman reportedly occurred on Wednesday, October 4, 2021, after a short illness.
Felix Owusu-Adjapong served in the Second, Third, and Fourth Parliaments as the representative for Akyem Swedru Constituency in the Eastern region.
He was chosen to lead the Majority caucus of the New Patriotic Party in the Parliament of Ghana from 2005 to 2008. During his time as the Majority Leader, he was a very vocal advocate for democracy and development and a great representative for his constituency.
Mr. Owusu-Adjapong resigned from government and seeking re-election as MP for Akyem Swedru Constituency in 2006 to contest the NPP’s presidential primaries in 2007.
He was one of the infamous 17 to contest the flagbearer elections ahead of the 2008 presidential elections.
He served Ghana in various capacities under the administration of President John Kufuor. He served as the Minister of Transport and Communications, Minister of Energy, and as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.
His dedication to national service and the development of Ghana was beyond measure.
The demise of Felix Owusu-Adjapong has left not only his family and friends in mourning but also the whole nation. His contribution to Ghana’s growth and development has been immense, and his legacy will forever be remembered.
At 79 years, Felix Owusu-Adjapong has left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Ghana and will always be remembered for his leadership, commitment to service, and dedication to the development of Ghana. We pray that his soul finds eternal rest and that his family finds solace in his memory.
