National Cathedral: Executive Director Reveals Audit Is Underway

The Executive Director of the National Cathedral Project, Dr Paul Opoku-Mensah, has disclosed an audit of the funds and expenditures of the project is underway.

A statement released a day after two more Trustees resigned said an international audit firm called Deloitte has been contracted to do the scrutiny.

The engagement letter for Deloitte to officially begin the audit was drafted and signed by the company on March 27, 2023. Additionally, the set-up on their system was done on May 17, 2023, he said.

Contradiction
In their resignation letter, the general overseer of the Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan William and the President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Rev Eastwood Anaba, pointed out they had not received any information about an audit they called for in January.

However, according to Dr Opoku-Mensah, the two clergymen were updated about the progress of the audit as all other members of the Board of Trustees were.

He said though Archbishop Duncan Williams and Rev Anaba were not present at both the June 2023 and September 2023 meetings where the updates on the audit were given, “they and all the other Board members who were not physically present at the meeting were sent copies of all the documents for the Board meeting, including the Executive Director’s report.”

He continued, “The claim that they have received no information, whatsoever, on the audit process is therefore false.”
