Mother: Victim In Alleged Intended Ritual Killing Predicted It

The eleven-year-old girl whose father allegedly intended to use her for a money ritual predicted she was going to be used as a “sacrificial lamb” by her father, according to her mother.

In an interview with GBC, the Mother of the girl, Evelyn Kemeh said her daughter jovially made the comment after her father had called to inform them he would pick her up from school to get her measurements and also enquired about the girl’s soul name.

“He called at 10 pm last Tuesday to inform me that he wanted a friend of his who had visited the country from abroad to take measures for our daughter to sew a dress for her and get her some shoes. He said he would pick her up from school. He also confirmed the soul name of my daughter.

“I pondered over all that he said after hanging up and informed my daughter about it. When I told my daughter about her father’s inquiry into her soul name, she jovially said “he is going to use me for a money ritual and we laughed over it.”

According to Evelyn, Evans Oppong, the suspect, didn’t go to the school on Thursday to pick the girl up as planned but called in the next morning.

“I advised my daughter not to take any food or drink from her dad out there. I told her not to take off her clothes when she was instructed to do so when they are taking her measurements.”

Evelyn recalled that she received a call from a person who said he was a police officer at the Adenta Police station later in the day who informed her the victim was in their custody.

Background

Evans was arrested after a priest who identified himself as Nana Adu Boafo Junior called the police when Evans called on his residence to embark on his riches agenda.

According to the priest, Evans just returned from abroad and sought to sacrifice two out of his twelve children to make money.

“This man came from overseas and says he is facing financial difficulties. He has twelve kids and so has decided to sacrifice two of them for a money ritual”, the herbalist said in the video.

In a viral video, Evans was covered from the waist with a plain white cloth with a pot beside him and seated on a stool on the compound of a house purported to be the herbalist’s, obviously waiting for her innocent daughter who was comfortably seated in the living room, to be killed.

He was, however, stunned by the sudden presence of police officers.

“He promised me 10,000 GHc and other good surprises after the rituals”, the herbalist disclosed in a Facebook post.

According to him, Evans picked the girl from her school during lesson hours with the excuse of buying her a new dress and sent her there to be killed.

Nana Adu Boafo noted that native priests are not as barbaric as portrayed in movies.

“I am a military officer and a disciplined one for that matter. I don’t do such a thing. I want to prove to the whole world and my neighbours that traditional herbalists are not wicked. We don’t kill people as portrayed in movies. This man is a bad man.”
