Mayor Of Memphis Receives Otumfuo

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has arrived in the city of Memphis, Tennessee, and has been received by Mr. James Strickland, the Mayor of Memphis.

His arrival last night on May 3 2022 was also met by some chiefs and a wide delegation of Ghanaian and Memphis indigenes.

This year’s edition of the Memphis in May festival salutes Ghana, thus, His Royal Majesty comes as the grand representative of his country accompanied by a delegation of chiefs representing their towns in the Ashanti Region.

In line with the activities for the festival, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is expected to embark on a tour to some historic areas of the city.

On May 4, 2022, he is to visit the STAX Museum of American Soul music to be given a history of the legendary southern soul record label and recording studio followed by a Ghana Welcome Dinner.

Memphis is known for its origination of music: Rock N Roll, Blues, and Soul.
