Kotoko Board Appoints Director of Football to Begin Rebuilding Process

The three-member board of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, James Osei Brown, Kwasi Osei Ofori and Kofi Amoa-Abban, has officially announced the appointment of Stanley Purl Menzo as Director of Football.

Asante Kotoko’s new Board of Directors was officially unveiled on Friday, February 27, 2026, and began its statutory oversight role immediately, with the Interim Management Committee (IMC) continuing to handle the club’s day-to-day operations until the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
According to a statement, the appointment of the 62-year-old Dutchman to the Porcupine Warriors is part of the club’s long-term strategy to strengthen technical leadership, modernise football operations, and return the club to the top of domestic and continental football.

Stanley Menzo brings a wealth of experience from his time playing for clubs and country as well as his managerial career.
“Himself a distinguished football manager and an accomplished former professional goalkeeper, he spent ten full seasons as a player at AFC Ajax, where he made more than 300 official appearances and won nine major titles. Mr. Menzo was regarded as one of the first goalkeepers capable of contributing as an outfield player, a forward-thinking, ball-playing philosophy that helped shape the modern game,” part of the statement read.

“It is an honour to join a club of this stature and history of Asante Kotoko. The passion of the supporters and the ambition of the leadership made this an easy decision. I look forward to working with the technical team, the players and the entire Kotoko family to build something special and to compete for the trophies this club deserves,” Mr. Menzo said.
The Dutchman has accepted the second appointment as a portfolio for football duties on the African continent, having previously overseen ten managerial positions at clubs and countries across three continents.
