KMA Engineer blames residents over flooding in Kumasi; Calls for attitudinal change
Flooding in the capital Kumasi will continue to occur until there is an attitudinal change by recalcitrant residents in the Metropolis. Residents must also desist from callous practices of indiscriminate disposal of refuse.
According to Ing. Poku Agyemang, of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), situations where by residents dispose refuse in streams and rivers are the main reasons for the endless flooding in the Metropolis.
“If you don’t stop all these practices, expect to see endless of flooding in your area”, the City Engineer pointed out on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show hosted by George Opoku Mensah.
Earlier, the Acting Ashanti Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) laid the blame on the doorstep of the city authorities so far as flooding in Kumasi is concerned.
Speaking on Friday’s edition of the “Nkwantananso” show, Ing. Poku Agyemang explained, KMA and other government agencies cannot be held responsible for the many recorded flooding in Kumasi.
