KAIPTC Launches 2026 Conflict Prevention Course for West African Peacebuilders

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has launched the 2026 Conflict Prevention Course, drawing participants from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin.

The course, supported by the Government of Switzerland, aims to strengthen the capacity of professionals in peacebuilding, security, and international relations.

It equips participants with practical tools to analyse conflict drivers, identify early warning signs, and respond effectively in their respective fields.

Opening the programme, Deputy Commandant Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo stressed the urgent need for proactive conflict prevention amid a rapidly evolving security landscape across the region.

He said the course aligns with key regional frameworks, including ECOWAS and the African Peace and Security Architecture, while promoting inclusive participation and cross-border collaboration.

The 2026 edition blends lectures, case studies, and practical exercises to ensure participants leave with actionable skills for their institutions.

Brigadier General Ayorrogo added that the programme reflects KAIPTC’s continued commitment, together with partners like Switzerland, to building a peaceful and secure Africa through training, research, and dialogue.
