Kotoko Sacks Prosper Ogum

Asante Kotoko SC has sacked Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, the head coach.

This was announced in a statement issued on Monday, April 21, 2025.

“Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has this afternoon parted company with Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum.”

The Porcupines said the decision is in the best interest of the club.

“This decision was reached following constructive discussions between both parties, with a shared understanding that it is in the best interest of the club at this time.”

It expressed gratitude to the coach for his dedication and service to the club.

“We wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” it added.

In further communication, the Communications Director of the club, Sarfo Duku, explained the coach had failed to live up to expectations after having all the needed resources at his disposal.

“We gave him complete freedom to recruit players of his choice, so if the players aren’t performing and management is doing its part, and it’s clear that the thing is about performance, who is responsible for improving the team’s performance? It is the technical team.”

Meanwhile, it called for calm among the supporter base, rallying its continued support for the club during this transition.

It failed to give any timeline for the appointment of the next coach.

The decision of the club comes after it fell from the first spot on the GPL table to the fourth place following a winless streak in their last four games.

The last two games of Kotoko witnessed a 3-0 defeat to Accra Lions and a 2-0 defeat to Nations FC.

It currently holds 47 points.
