EC to Conduct By-Elections for Vacant Electoral Areas and Units
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has laid out plans to conduct By-Elections for vacant Electoral Areas and Units.
The vacancies arise from deaths or resignations of a number of Assembly and Unit Committee Members.
The election will take place on November 11, 2025.
Ahead of that nomination, Forms may be obtained free of charge at the District Offices of the Electoral Commission or downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s website (www.ec.gov.gh/forms).
They will be available from Monday, October 6, to Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Completed Nomination Forms are to be delivered in quadruplicate by the Candidate personally or by the Proposer or Seconder together with two (2) copies of a recent bust-sized photograph against a RED background, to the Returning Officer of the Electoral Area for which the Candidate seeks election.
Submission of filled forms is scheduled to take place from Monday, October 13 to Thursday, October 16, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on each day.
“The Nomination Forms for the vacant Electoral Areas must be witnessed by the signature or mark of the Proposer and Seconder and supported by eighteen (18) other persons who are resident and registered voters in the Electoral Area.
“The Nomination Forms for the vacant Units must be witnessed by the signature or mark of the Proposer and Seconder and supported by eight (8) other persons who are resident and registered voters in the Electoral Area,” the EC said in a statement.
