I Was Robbed of VGMA Artiste of the Year in 2015- Edem
Nine years after missing out on the Artiste of the Year in the Ghana Music Awards, rapper Edem has found reasons to voice out his dissatisfaction with the tangent it took.
He believes beyond reasonable doubt that he was the most deserving person among the nominees in the category for award; however, he was “robbed”.
His situation, he found, to resonate with that of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jnr who controversially missed out on the 2024 edition of the Ballon d’Or which took place in France earlier this week.
The 24-year-old Brazilian who was tipped to win surprisingly lost it to Manchester City and Spain’s Rodri.
Reacting to this in a Facebook post, the artiste wrote, “Why #BallondOr come dey behave like the way VGMA take do me 2015 Artist of the Year? 💔🤣🤣…”
He characterized the act as a “heinous crime” and a “daylight robbery”, adding that “Vinicius Jr is the REAL WINNER 🥇 🦶🏾👊🏾”
In 2015, Edem was nominated alongside Daddy Lumba, Stonebwoy, Guru, MzVee, Sarkodie and Samini.
Stonebwoy was subsequently adjudged the winner.
