GWCL Blames ECG For Supply Disruptions

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is blaming the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for the disruption in water supply in some parts of the Ashanti Region.

Residents in Kumasi have been experiencing disruption in the flow of water since Monday morning.

Some residents tell opemsuo.com water supply to their households is intermittently disrupted.

Those with water reservoirs have had to resort to them whereas those without have to go out to look for boreholes and other sources.

Explaining the cause of the inconvenience customers have been put through, the GWCL apologised.

The Company in a statement on Tuesday said the disruption is due to the ECG’s inability to supply adequate power to the Barekese Water Treatment Plant and the Achiase Booster station.

It noted, “the Electricity Company Limited explains that the dedicated lines which supply power to Barekese and Achiase has encountered some damages”.

According to the company, engineers of the two public utility companies are working to resolve the challenges as soon as possible to restore the water supply.

It added, “management assures the general public that water supply will resume in full when ECG restores power to the production centres”.
