Ghana Maintains 60th Position In Fifa Rankings
The latest FIFA ranking has maintained Ghana at the 60th position in the World Rankings of the international Men’s team.
It was expected that the Black Stars would fall in ranks after their abysmal performance during the country’s recent matches against the United States of America (USA) and Mexico.
It becomes the third consecutive time the West African country has been maintained at the 60th position since July this year.
Ghana fell to that position from the 58th in 2022, dropped to the 60th place in April 2023 and then advanced to the 59th place in June 2023 before dropping again by a point in July.
Meanwhile, Argentina, France and Brazil remained in their first, second and third positions respectively. They have occupied the spaces since April 2023.
England also maintained their 4th position for the fourth consecutive time this year.
Black Stars Friendlies
The Black Stars suffered four first-half goals against the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT) at Geodis Park, Nashville Tennessee in a friendly over the October international break.
This was preceded by the team’s 2:0 defeat to Mexico.
The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton took responsibility for the poor performance put up by the team and issued an apology to Ghanaians.
“I’m very sorry, and I take responsibility for the poor performance against the USA,” Hughton said at a presser in the US.
The friendlies were meant to prepare the team for the Nations Cup in January but the two consecutive defeats raised questions about the capacity of the coach at the crucial time.
However, the head coach assured that he was the right person for the job during his presser.
