Ghana Draught Association Formally Introduces Itself To Otumfuo

The Ghana Draught Association has had the privilege of unveiling its objective before the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The national and regional executives of the country’s first traditional sports association took advantage of the Awukudae celebration on December 20 to make the introduction.

They also introduced Accra Brewery PLC as the primary sponsor for the standard chessboard of 64 chequered squares draughts game known as dame among Ghanaians.

Introducing the delegation, the Woman Commissioner for the Association said, “We are here to introduce ourselves officially to our lord. We are now recognized by the government. Five national executives were sworn into office in Accra some time ago. We are here to seek the blessings of our lord.”

She introduced Nana Kwaku Afriyie, Asantehemaa Sompahene as the President of the Association.

She also talked about the association’s last national competition which was held at the Manhyia Palace and introduced Mr Adae who hails from the Bono Region as the ultimate winner.

On her part, the Ghana Brands Manager for the Brewery, Emmanuella Odametey said, “We focus on the hard workers and have good aspirations for their lives. That was why we partnered our brothers here to stage the competition.”

She said the company plans on continuing the partnership.

“This partnership is something we plan on continuing. We will do it every year and reward the winners. We will also make sure to come every year to seek the blessings of the King.”

Otumfuo promised to personally join the audience of the competition in the next edition.
