Petroleum Commission Board Inaugurated

The Minister for Energy, John Jinapor, has inaugurated the reconstituted Petroleum Commission Board.
The Board include Mr Ernest Thompson (Chairman), Ms Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, Mr Crisler Akwei Ankrah, Hon Mensah Joseph Kwasi, Dr Hasiyatu Abubakari and Mr Hassan Thompson Osman.
During the inauguration ceremony, Jinapor highlighted the challenges confronting the upstream petroleum sector.
He outlined the recent arbitrations, investment draughts and dwindling oil and gas reserves and production, issues of local content and local participation, particularly in the core business of oil and gas exploration and production.
“In line with the President’s vision, efforts are being made by the Ministry to revitalise the upstream industry, having commenced processes to amend the laws and regulations to introduce flexibility in the fiscal regime and increase predictability and transparency in the industry.”
The Minister further reiterated the onerous task ahead of them, considering the global upstream industry and further encouraged them to synergise their individual expertise to enhance Ghana’s upstream sector.
Meanwhile, he assured them of his full support in the discharge of their activities.
