GES End Nationwide Sensitisation and Stakeholders Engagement Against Exam Malpractice

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has successfully concluded a nationwide sensitisation and stakeholder engagement campaign aimed at intensifying the fight against examination malpractice, ahead of the BECE, which begins on Monday, May 4.
The exercise, which was carried out in all the regions, and districts, of the country, brought together key stakeholders including school heads, teachers, students, parents, examination invigilators, supervisors, community leaders, faith-based organisations, education unions, and security agencies.
The engagements focused on reinforcing the shared responsibility of safeguarding the integrity of national examinations and promoting a culture of honesty, discipline, and academic excellence.
Examination malpractice remains a serious threat to the credibility of the nation’s educational system and undermines efforts to build competent human capital for national development.
By undertaking the exercise, GES commits to strengthening monitoring systems, enforcing examination regulations, and collaborating with relevant institutions to eliminate all forms of malpractice.
Key issues discussed during the engagements included the consequences of examination malpractice on individual students and national development, the role of teachers and invigilators in maintaining examination integrity, and the importance of parental guidance in shaping students’ attitudes towards learning and assessment.
Stakeholders were also educated on emerging forms of malpractice, including digital-enabled cheating, and the corresponding sanctions as stipulated in examination regulations.
Through the campaign, the GES outlined ongoing interventions, including intensified supervision during examinations, increased public education campaigns, capacity building for examination personnel, and strengthened collaboration with security agencies to ensure a fair and credible examination environment.
The Service expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their active participation and renewed commitment to upholding academic integrity.
All partners in education are encouraged to sustain the momentum and work collectively towards eradicating examination malpractice in all its forms.
