Finance Ministry Confirms Payment of Eurobond Debt Obligation

The Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, has confirmed the release of US$349,523,674.56 to service the last schedule of Eurobond debt payment for this year.

The amount was released for payment by the Bank of Ghana on July 3, 2025, and brings Ghana fully up to date on all scheduled Eurobond debt service obligations for 2025, he said in a statement.

In the preceding year, Ghana will have to pay a total debt service of US$1,409.06 million per scheduled.

According to the Ministry, the timely payment reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to macroeconomic stability, prudent debt management, and constructive engagement with external creditors.

Since the conclusion of Ghana’s Eurobond debt restructuring in October 2024, the Government of Ghana has cumulatively serviced US$1,174.64 million in Eurobond debt payments.

With this, Cassiel expects a positive influence on Ghana’s credit ratings trajectory in the months ahead; a boost in investor confidence in Ghana’s sovereign credit profile and economic recovery programme; and support of foreign exchange market stability.
Previously honoured schedules included payment of US$475.60 million and US$349.52 million paid in January 2025.
