Empowering Women Economically Transforms Communities- Lordina Mahama

First Lady Lordina Mahama has postulated that economic empowerment of women is crucial to the strengthening of families as well as the transformation of communities.

It is in this spirit she plans to intensify support for women-led small and medium-sized enterprises through the Lordina Foundation, she told the 30th Ordinary Assembly of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) over the weekend in Ethiopia.

This, she said, would be done in alignment with key government initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy and the Women’s Development Bank.

In the area of education, her NGO supports 40 underprivileged junior high school girls through the Merck Foundation ‘Educating Linda’ Scholarship Programme, reaffirming the belief that every educated girl becomes a leader and nation-builder.

In her address to fellow First Ladies, she pledged her full support for the #BuildingResilience Campaign, with a strategic focus on improving access to healthcare, expanding educational opportunities, and strengthening women’s empowerment.

Through the Lordina Foundation, thousands of women, children, and the elderly continue to benefit from free health screenings and medical support.

The Foundation has also delivered three modern maternity and children’s wards at Bole District Hospital, Nkoranza Municipal Hospital, and Bodom Health Centre, with an additional facility nearing completion at Asukawkaw.
