Elon Musk Suggests An Age Limit For Political Offices
Entrepreneur and business magnate, Elon Musk has suggested age limits must be carved around political offices.
The Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer at SpaceX, an aerospace manufacturer, and space transport services company, said age limit should hinder some people from running for political offices.
He further opined that the age to run for political offices should be less than 70 years.
At exactly 8:47 on Tuesday, December 2, 2021, the world’s richest man with a net worth of around US$285 billion as of December 2021 made the suggestion in a tweet.
He tweeted, “Let’s set an age limit after which you can’t run for political office, perhaps a number just below 70 …”
At age 90, Mugabe was still president of Zimbabwe and was succeeded by Emmerson Mnangagwa who was 75 years then.
The current president of Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni is 77 years the same age as the president of Ghana, President Akufo-Addo, and the two are a year younger than the president of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.
President of Côte D’ivoire, Alassane Ouattara is 79 years and ousted Guinea president Alpha Conde is 83 years, etc.
The current American President, Joe Biden is 79 years old while the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi is 81 years.
