Education Director Bemoans Teachers Accomodation Challenges

The Asante Akim South Municipal Director of Education, Miss Elizabeth Davis, has bemoaned the lack of accommodations for teachers in some communities in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

According to her, the Asante Akim South Municipality has no bungalow for teachers.

Miss Elizabeth Davis said that teachers cannot stay at the various schools due to the lack of accommodations.

She made this known to Opemsuo Radio’s Kwame Adu Gyamfi Kumanin, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, during the presentation of NaCCA-approved science textbooks and workbooks to twenty deprived basic schools in the Asante Akim South Municipality by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.

The Foundation, led by their Stakeholder Relations Head, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Ababio, donated 4,800 science textbooks and workbooks to benefit over 10,000 pupils and students in the basic schools in Asante Akim South Municipality, in line with promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) interest at the basic level of education.

On his part, the Head Teacher of Nkyesa M/A Primary School, Mr. Daniel Bacha, after receiving their portion of the science textbooks and workbooks, thanked the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his kind gesture through his foundation to enhance teaching and learning in Asante Akim South Municipality.

Mr. Bacha disclosed that they were with the challenge of getting textbooks and workbooks for studies.

He then appealed to the Foundation to come to their aid concerning other teaching and learning materials, specifically a well-built information and communication technology (ICT) laboratory to promote ICT.
