ECG Addressing Credit Purchase Challenges

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is working around the clock to resolve challenges with the purchase of electricity credits in a section of the country, the Company has communicated.

In a notice, the Company said the challenge is specific to customers using the NURI prepaid meters.

It said the challenge was technical and under supervision by its technical team.

“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited wishes to inform our cherished NURI prepayment customers that their inability to purchase electricity is due to a technical challenge.”

It added, “ECG wishes to assure all NURI customers that our team is working assiduously to rectify the anomaly and ensure smooth service provision” and then apologized for the inconvenience.

The last time the ECG announced a service lapse was seven months ago after a countrywide challenge in 2022. The situation last years persisted for days forcing customers to stay without light in their homes.

March’s case was blamed on a technical challenge from two of the company’s internet service providers (Glo and Vodafone).
