Don’t Cower Before Your Opponents- Otumfuo to Dreams And Medeama

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has encouraged the players of the Medeama Sporting Club and Dreams Football Club to face their continental opponents with aplomb.

Despite being destined for tougher fixtures against some greats on the continent, Otumfuo urged them to have confidence in themselves and know they are no less.

“The fact that you are there playing against them means you are also good. You can match them. Be confident in front of them and don’t cower.”

He continued, “I know you have games outside the country aside from this, but know that victory is assured in your home games.”

Otumfuo also advised the players to yield to the instructions of their managers and leaders in order to produce the right results. He cautioned them against being carried away by vain glory but aspire for greater heights.

His Majesty made the submission on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, when a joint delegation made up of players, management and the technical teams of champions Medeama SC and Dreams FC called on him at the Manhyia Palace.

Among the delegation on the Medeama side were Joseph Tetteh Jutah, the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Administrator, Nana Yaw Amankwa, the Assistant Coach and Nana Effah Asare, a Communication member.

On Dreams side were the President of the Club, Mohammed Jiji Alifoe and Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito.

They were led by Frederick Acheampong, an Executive Council (ExCo) member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to officially inform Otumfuo about their CAF interclub group games this weekend at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Medeama will play against FC Belouizdad on Friday, December 1, 2023, whereas Dreams will lock horns with Rivers United on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
