Coach Ogum Signs Teenager Yahaya Dawuni
The Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have announced the signing of defender Yahaya Dawuni on a three-year deal.
The teenager joins from Division One League side Susubiribi SC in Akim Tafo.
He becomes Coach Ogum’s first signee upon his return to the Club last month.
“Asante Kotoko is delighted to announce the signing of centre-back Yahaya Dawuni ahead of the upcoming season. He has penned a contract until 2026,” the Club said in a statement on Tuesday, August 8.
Delighted Yahaya will now play for his “dream” Club.
“I feel so happy to be here. Kotoko is my dream club and I am honoured to be part of this great family, to be able to don the iconic red jersey and also play in front of the loyal supporters at the Baba Yara Stadium,” he is quoted as saying.
The 19-year-old joined Susubiribi in October 2020 from Abuu FC and rose to become the club’s captain.
During his last season at Susubiribi, the Club came 5th on the Access Bank Division One League table.
In a farewell message, the Akim Tafo-based club said, “We thank Dawuni for his selfless dedication and exceptional commitment and service to our dear club. We wish him the best in the next chapter of his career.”
