Coach Bashir Hayford Returns To Heart of Lions
Heart of Lions have reappointed former Somali national team head gaffer, Bashir Hayford as their new Manager.
It was announced in a social media post on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
“We are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Bashir Hayford as the Club’s new Head Coach. He makes a return to the Lion’s Den.”
Coach Hayford took charge of the Kpando-based club between 2006 and 2007 before taking over Asante Kotoko SC for a year, Medeama Sporting Club for three years from 2010 to 2013 and then Ashanti Gold FC from 2013 to 2017.
He has also managed clubs including Abusua Dwarfs and Legon Cities.
Coach Hayford has formerly coached Ghana’s U17 Women’s team as well as Somalia’s Ocean Stars where he resigned in February 2020 due to a civil war.
He takes over from Coach Salisu Fatawu who was sacked in the middle of this month due to the unwarranted spell of abysmal performances from his boys.
Currently ninth on the league table, Heart of Lions hold 19 points after winning five of 15 games, drawing four and losing six.
Before their last game against Nsoatreman FC last Sunday, they had lost two matches against Nations FC and Bechem United.
Coach Hayford’s first assignment with the Lions will be today, December 22 in Kpando against Sarmatex FC.
